One in seven employers struggle to recruit

Research suggests that One in seven employers are struggling to fill vacancies despitelong-term unemployment reach a record high. After a survey of 2,100 participants it has been highlight that Enginerring, catering, management and sales role are among the hardest to fill. Some fifteen ‘pc’ of companies said they had difficulty filling positions this year, up from nine ‘pc’ in 2010 and the highest number since 2007.

A lack of technical skills and too few job applications are the main reasons why companies find it difficult to recruit. (Manpower 2013)   The findings come as the number of people of work reach 2.46 m in the three months to March, the Office for National Statistics said yesterday. This represented a fall compared to the previous quarter, but the number of people out of work for 12 months or more rose by 20.000 to 850,000, its highest level ever. However, in a survey seen by The Daily Telegraph, several emplyers reported a skills shortage in the UK’s core industries.

According to the survey, engineering jobs are the most difficult to fill so far this year, up from third position in 2010. In the last six years, engineering has consistently been one of the top four most difficult roles to fill.   Nearly half of UK employers broaden their candidate search outside of their local region when struggling to fill roles. However, 21 ‘pc’ of employers cite lack of suitable experience for not being able to fill roles. Just 2 ‘pc’ say pay is a barrier for filling roles.   The Most difficult jobs to fill in the UK

CCA Recruitment Group has recently opened it’s doors to Alex Taylor, who will take up position in our Manchester office as Regional Manager. A new manager was an important next step, as we have seen the positive result of appointing Rob Gibson internally in our London office. We are hoping Alex’s previous experience, along with his positive approach and fresh ideas will see the team grow from strength to strength.

Alex enjoys watching his beloved Newcastle and has a passion for skiing with his wife and children.

After studying Politics and History at Leeds, during which he undertook a years internship with an MP in London, Adam returned home to Cheshire where he worked for a well known high street property agency for 5 years. His cross over to Recruitment brought him 20 miles north to Manchester where he has gained 2 years experience working in IT, Business, and Contact Centre specialisms.

Adam has an extensive range of interests and hobbies including; History, Music, and Social Justice. Whilst at University, Adam volunteered with Oxfam and the soup kitchens.

Ian has spent most of the last 18 years working in sales roles. Starting as a Travel Agent and moving on to sell various forms of advertising and marketing, before relocating to Manchester from Blackpool to extend his career. He has a passion for music especially jazz/funk/soul and world music and go to as many gigs and soul-nights as possible. Lover of cats who usually get named after musical heroes (with the exception of Knuckles Knievel – who is a girl). Ian loves learning new things and playing scrabble.

Matthew has a successful past in insurance sales where he built up his experience to team leader level. He pays close attention to detail, leaving no stone unturned to ensure the best candidate is connected to the right client. After 5 years Matthew looked for a new adventure and lucky for us it was here!

Matthew is a passionate football fan, not only watching it religiously but also playing tournaments all over England during the weekend. He enjoys pool and fishing on the side and spending time with his family.

Stewart is a veteran of recruitment with 15 years in the business spanning across England. To Stewart recruitment just makes sense and this is shown through his extensive career and links to successful recruitment agencies.

 An avid Newcastle supporter, Stewart enjoys watching his favourite team play with his two young kids. On sunnier days, a game of golf is usually on the cars.

Brian is a keen learner and has a well rounded career history working at some renowned companies such as Autotrader, Excel and Reed.  He has most recently worked as a Recruitment Consultant in the Finance sector and has developed skills that will benefit CCA Recruitment with some outside of the box thinking.

Brian enjoys spending time with his three children and keeping in check with his interest in the UFC and physical fitness.
